the english wildflower toolbox.

Welcome back for day 4 of toolbox week.

Here is where today’s toolbox started out.

Not too terrible.  I rather liked the subdued shade of green, so I tried to copy it for the interior as you’ll see in a minute.

But first, yes, this one got the same prep as the others.  A good wash, slight scuff sanding and a coat of Dixie Belle’s Bonding Boss inside and out.

Then I gave the inside a coat of Dixie Belle’s Highlands.

It’s not an exact match to that original color, but in the same neighborhood.

Next up I gave the outside a couple of coats of Dixie Belle’s Drop Cloth.  Once dry, I applied quite a few wildflower transfers from I.O.D.’s Primrose Isle set.

The detail on these is just lovely.

The flowers are so delicate looking.

The typography I used on top is from that same collection.

I’m afraid I don’t really know anything about the wild flowers of the British Isles, so I’m not sure if all of the flowers qualify.  But does anyone really notice that level of detail?

So far I think this might be my favorite toolbox of the week.  What do you think?

As with all of this week’s toolboxes, this one will be available at my upcoming occasional sale unless someone snatches it up ahead of time by checking out my ‘available for local sale‘ page.

Wanted to let u know, that Amy Howard has her transfers on sale for $5.00. I have never used them, so I have no review…You use a lot and I know how expensive they are! I bought some to see… Hope this helps!!

      1. That is so weird. I believe the ‘tremendous’ thing has to do with a user name for WordPress, or maybe for some sort of program used to read and comment on blogs from back in the day? The letters and numbers at the end seem to tell me that maybe it was assigned to you for some reason? Do you have a WordPress profile? This answer from WordPress makes it about as clear as mud: “What’s in the comment_author field depends on whether they were logged in at the time of making the comment or not. If logged in, it should be their chosen display name when they made the comment. If not, it’s whatever they provided in the “Name” field.”

  2. I painted and used transfers for the first time on a tool box I bought from a resale store. I ended up using 3 different brands of transfers on the I.O.D. brand that you use. I found they are not created equal, some were harder than others. I think there is definitely a knack for applying them! Love your projects.

    1. Yes, I agree. They are not all created equal. I find that the I.O.D. brand are the best quality, and the re.design with prima transfers are also good. Also, another thing to keep in mind is that they go on much easier when they are fresh (ie. new releases), but if they’ve been sitting around for a few years they start to dry out a bit and are harder to apply.

  3. Gorgeous! My new favorite! (To go with all my other favorites of your tool boxes). I love them all because every single one is perfect, in colors used, transfer application, tiny additional details.
