a magical combination.

Welcome back for day 8 of my 12 days of giveaways!

Over the past couple of years I’ve grown to love the combination of mid mod furniture and Fusion’s Park Bench green.

This has been an absolutely magical combination for me.

I’ve practically lost count of how many pieces I’ve done in this color.

It’s rather comical almost.

At first glance you might not realize that all of these photos are of different pieces of furniture, but they are.

This gorgeous green just makes pieces fly off the shelf.  I really should do even more of them, but I get bored doing the same look over and over.  And I’m sure you guys would get bored seeing the same look over and over.

But periodically I see a piece for sale on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace and I know it will look amazing in Park Bench so I snatch it up.

The frosting on the cake is adding gold hardware.  In some cases I just purchase new hardware, some of my favorites include these knobs and pulls from Hobby Lobby …

But if at all possible I prefer to keep the original hardware and just spruce it up with some gold wax from Prima Marketing.

I love using this stuff on hardware.  It dries hard and once dry can be buffed to add a little more sheen.  I can’t really say that it holds up perfectly to years of hard use, but I do feel that it wears more gracefully than spray paint.

For day 8 I’m giving away a 16.9 oz jar of Fusion paint in Park Bench and a 1.69 oz container of Prima Marketing’s Decor Wax in Eternal, so the lucky winner can recreate this look.  Then, just to round things out I’m also throwing in a 16.9 oz jar of my other favorite Fusion paint color called Laurentien plus a fabulous Staalmeester brush.

Thank you to Fusion Mineral Paint for sponsoring this giveaway by providing the paint and the Staalmeester brush, and to Prima Marketing for providing the Decor Wax.

The rules:  to be eligible to win today’s prize leave a comment on this blog post.  If you can’t think of anything to say, just tell me, when it comes to mid-mod are you a fan or does it give you bad flashbacks to your childhood?  Your comment must be left on the blog, not on Facebook or Instagram.  You are not required to follow my blog, although it would be awesome if you did!

I will randomly draw the name of a winner for today’s prize from all of the comments left on this post by Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the stroke of midnight (U.S. Central time).

The fine print: no purchase necessary, you must be 18 years of age or older to win, void where prohibited by law, the number of eligible entries received determines the odds of winning, approximate retail value of prize is $65, if the prize is not claimed by Tuesday, December 17, another name will be drawn at random to win, blah, blah, blah.

Good luck!

  1. Such a great color, and would love to try the gold wax. I haven’t painted any mid century mod pieces yet, but admire the ones you have shown on your blog.

  3. I love Park Bench! It is the first Fusion paint color that I tried & I agree that it looks fantastic on a mid mod piece. Have you used Rub n Buff? That’s what I’ve used the most on knobs that need a spruce-it has pretty good staying power. But I LOVE the color and sheen of the gold wax you used. I wonder if the durability is similar, since you said it dries hard? It’s so pretty!

  4. I love the color of Park Bench and can see how it is perfect for MCM. I just can’t get into MCM because I grew up with it and always, even as a child, wanted a more traditional style. Having said that, I love how you have transformed those pieces of furniture!

  6. Hi Q,
So impressed as how industrious you are. Wish I could stay inspired like you and manage not to get carpal tunnel. I’ve long been a fan of Park Bench green.
    Thanks.

  7. Green is my favorite color, but I’ve never used it on any furniture pieces. Sure would be fun to try! Thanks for this chance to win this fun package.

  8. You’ve definitely found a winning combo for the mid-mod pieces, but I do think it’s versatile and can work on lots of projects! I’ve only tried the black fusion (coal?), can’t remember, but with 3 boys using the vanity everyday for over a year I feel it’s held up remarkably well. I’ve only used the rub and buff, so it would be an interesting comparison. I used some gold on address numbers and attached them to a tree at the end of our driveway. Fun giveaway!

  9. I have never done a mcm piece, but again you have inspired me. 🙂 Thank you for that! My grandmother had several, so they always remind me of her. I saw a mcm cedar chest yesterday on marketplace…….. I may need to go buy it. :0

  11. Love that green (green is my all time fav)! I do love mid-mod but it took a while to come around to it for me. Now I’m all in…or a quarter in as I lean very eclectic! 😂😉 Thank you!

  13. Wow, my fingers are crossed for this incredible giveaway! I’m anxious to try Park Bench because it’s a green I could live with. And having been born in the early 50s, I grew up surrounded by MCM and find some of those pieces quite nostalgic. 🙂

  14. Love Fusion Mineral paint, its my go to especially Casement, Cole Black, Ash, Midnight Blue. These are the colors I use most on the pieces I paint. These colors always sell the quickest, however, I would love to try both of these colors especially for spring. Staalmeester brushes, they are the bomb!! I have never tried the gold wax but i would love to. I’ve always used Rub n Buff.

  15. Wowza, I love this green! Not only would I use it, I’m also way past due for a new brush! If Santa could see it in his big, generous heart to put me on his ‘good’ list this year, maybe I’ll have a chance at these giveaways. Santa, if you remember, I do have a large stocking for goodies like this!
