I know it’s a bit early to be thinking about Thanksgiving itself, but this year I’m going to take some inspiration from one of Prima Marketing’s newest transfer collections and practice gratitude for the entire fall season.

On Wednesday I posted about the tree that came down in our yard and how thankful we were that nothing else was damaged, no one got hurt, and the entire mess was cleaned up before 9 a.m. by some tree guys that were already in the neighborhood.

Just the other day I mentioned to Mr. Q how blessed I am to have my sister and niece living nearby now.  For those of you who might be new here, my sister got married and moved away to New Jersey when I was 18 years old.  We didn’t live in the same state for over 30 years until she and my niece moved here to Minnesota 4 years ago.

Now I can’t even imagine them not living here.  We have so much fun together.  How did I ever get by without them for so many years?

I regularly give thanks for my neighbor/handyman Ken too.  Never more so than this past week as we’ve been working on a little home improvement project together.  I’m going to share it next Wednesday, so be sure to check back for that.

I also feel incredibly lucky that Prima Marketing chose me to be a member of their design team.

It’s so fun to get a sneak peek at the designs each time they come out with a new release, which brings me to today’s quick and easy project.

I started with a pile of vintage plates and platters.

Then I pulled out one of Prima’s newest transfer collections called Thankful Autumn.  This collection will be available to purchase on September 15.  You can find a retailer near you, or an online source for Prima’s transfers here.

Then I just cut out the various designs and added them to the plates.

A quick q tip for you:  when working with the transfers over glass (or china in this case) be forewarned that they stick like mad to these surfaces.  As soon as that transfer touches the surface, it is stuck there.  So be sure you get your placement right before allowing contact.

I was a little off on this next one.

But the sentiment is still there.  Even if it’s a little wonky, there’s no place like home sweet home.

  4. If that transfer is off no one will ever know. 😉. These are so beautiful. You are the best advertiser they could have. Your use of transfers is so creative and I’m at the thrift store today looking for some victims to apply them to! And thanks for the q tip. For some reason I thought they would be repostionable. Good to know.

  5. Those plates are fun. And Kris and I are very happy that we moved here too! We have done so much fun stuff with you guys since moving here. Plus we still get the great vacations together and can even fly out of the same city together now.

  6. I love these! We live back in the woods. A few months ago, a huge tree fell on our house and new car I had only had for a few weeks! The car was totaled, and the tree clipped the edge of our house and porch. It did not penetrate the house. I was sitting in my chair in our bedroom reading. If it had fell a little farther, I would have been crushed!
    It did quite a bit of damage to the house. I was so thankful that it didn’t hit me, or penetrate the house, but I loved my car, and the house repairs were inconvenient, but again so thankful! It could have been worse! The repairs made it as good as new!
    Congratulations on being chosen for the Prima design team! You are the perfect choice! I may have to make some of these for “thankful gifts”. These would make a great hostess gift to take along for Thanksgiving, or to give to a friend a Thanksgiving!

  10. …thanks for being real! I look at magazine photos and often wonder what the rooms looked like before the photos were taken. Who doesn’t have a mouse pad waiting to be replaced by another better one and their cuppa coffee waiting (after being rewarmed 3x). Life happens! We can all relate right?

  11. Q, you are so right about needing to feel thankful. It was a good reminder for me as we sold our house so quickly then had a heck of a time finding one to buy. We are finally getting settled and it’s brand new so no feeling of “home” yet until we get our stuff out of storage in 2 weeks. I need to just feel thankful as you say…thankful we found a pretty house in a pretty town. Thankful my husband is doing well with his treatment at the new cancer center. Just actually thankful for life…there is another alternative after all!

    1. For sure! And I can just imagine how unsettling all of those things happening in your life can be. I’m glad that you now have a new place to call home and imagine you’ll have some fun making it feel like it’s your’s.

  12. The graphics on the new Thanksgiving transfers are awesome! You did a wonderful job transforming them with transfers. You definitely deserve a spot on the Prima Marketing design team, you bring a different perspective to their designs. Thanks for sharing your ideas, I’ll surely use your inspiration. And having a sister close is truly a joy.
