Sometimes I bite off way more than I can chew. I have all of these ideas, but no time for the execution. That darn day job really eats into my time.
Remember the front hallway from last winter? We got as far as ripping off the carpet and I meant to get it painted before spring, but the opportunity to participate in Junk Bonanza came up, and it got pushed to the bottom of the list.
Then, I had a brilliant plan to turn the summerhouse into a furniture photo studio. I was optimistic and thought I could have it done before my Carriage House Sale. As if. Instead I barely got the furniture out of there and cleaned up to sell. It’s sitting there vacant at the moment waiting for a paint job.
I’m also debating how to deal with that rear wall. The plan, as you may remember, is to turn this into a furniture photo studio. That back wall will be the backdrop. Do I create a fake solid wall back there? Do I remove the window and create a real solid wall back there? Do I devise multiple interchangeable backdrops? Do I paint the floor, or leave it bare wood and use various rugs in my photos? So many possibilities.
Then there is this dresser that my friend Cathy nabbed for me. FREE. Needs a lot of work!
I am planning to strip it because I really want to give it a MMSMP chippy finish, and I don’t want the current horrid color to show through. I have no idea if it will have been worth so much effort, but aren’t those knobs pretty darling? I’d love to paint this one red, but since my first red dresser still hasn’t sold after 9 months I’m hesitant to do any more red.
I also think it would be fantastic in yellow, so I might just do that.
I also want to revamp this cupboard that was in the summerhouse.
There is a bit of a story behind this guy, I’ll share it with you when I post the before & after. But for now, just know I’m thinking of adding some vintage wallpaper and trying to make the top look a little less fresh.
So there you have it. So many projects, so little time. I hope to get a few things done this week, so I better get crackin’!

My vote: paint the floor in the potting shed – would give it a lovely cohesive look. You can still use rugs for different looks. I’ve known you for a long time and I’d bet that after the long weekend, your project list will be greatly reduced — your energy continues to amaze me! Just be sure to include some “drinking wine while watching hubby make dinner on the grill” time.

The more I look at the floor, the more I agree that it definitely needs to be painted. It’s not pretty wood, and it has paint drips and such on it. I love a painted floor, and this is a good place to go for it without worrying about how it will hold up. Now I’ll have to decide … diamond pattern, damask stencil, checkerboard?

Here it comes..some motherly advice…I absolutely love your site! Love it! But you need to concentrate on ONE PROJECT AT A TIME. There. Said it. I can’t wait to see what you post next! But one project tackled, will make you feel more settled! Creative? We’ll see! The back wall in the future photo studio, has character! Don’t destroy it!? Good luck!

If that shed were mine, I would keep the back wall as is because it would work for some photo shoots. Then take a painters cloth and hang it from the ceiling so that it can be dropped down as a backdrop for other photo shoots. You could even paint one side of the dropcloth…maybe wide stripes and have a reversible backdrop. I’m sure one of those handy helpers you have could arrange a way for it to roll up when you wanted it out of the way.

I think I might experiment with leaving the window in place and see if it gives me trouble or not. It’s a good place to start!

Paint the floor even if it’s just a solid color, keep the back wall love that window, and salvage junkie had some clever ways to change it up. I like the red chest don’t get that one at all. Oh the stairs we did the same thing in our Circa 2004 home and dang abbot the dang risers were particleboard. So my husband made them look like the limestone walls in the living room not what I really want. That is on the top of my list this fall get those redone. So that is what I am hoping to go at first…..I cannot remember what you are going to do? And once again I love that newel post!

I think part of the reason I haven’t moved forward with the stairs is because I haven’t really decided what I want to do with them. I’d been thinking maybe a stencil on the riser, but that is more complicated than it sounds. I don’t like any of the stencils I’ve seen out there that are meant for stairs. I’m also considering vintage wallpaper, but I don’t want a too frilly/girly/floral look. But I am finding that there are a lot of fab vintage wallpapers that aren’t any of those things, so that might still be a go. The next step would be to actually do some math and figure out how much wallpaper I would need. Math. Not exciting.

The comment about focusing on one project at a time was hilarious! I’m SO not like that — I go from one project to another, and have many in progress at a time — I could never just finish one thing and then move on. Funny!
