paying it forward giveaway.

Yesterday I came home from work to find a small package in the mail addressed to me.  It seems so rare these days to get an unexpected package in the mail!  The return address was that of my friend LeeAnn a.k.a. Annie in New York.  Since I know that LeeAnn is a super talented artist, I knew there had to be something fab in that little box!

And look, there was!

spring giveaway 3Aren’t these lovely earrings?  Handmade by Annie, and one pair in my favorite color, aqua!  I just love them.

But better than the earrings was the lovely card that accompanied them.  The artwork on the front is by Annie herself by the way, but what meant the most to me were the words inside.  She sent the earrings just to let me know how much she enjoys my blog!

How fab is that?

It was funny timing, because I had just been thinking that perhaps my blog had gotten a little stale.  Yet another painted dresser, ho hum, yawn.  Don’t I have anything interesting to say?  Isn’t my life more exciting than this?  Does anyone really care what color I decide to use on a desk or how many vintage alarm clocks I have?  Sometimes I wonder.

But, now I am reminded that someone other than me gets some enjoyment out of this thing.

And so, I want to pay it forward.  Would you enjoy receiving a small box in the mail with a treasure inside?  How about these earrings I made using vintage religious medals?

And also these cute Scottie dog hair pins made out of vintage buttons?

  1. Just so you know, of all the blogs I stalk, yours and MMS are my fav and the only two I subscribe to 🙂 Don’t you dare quit writing!

    1. Thank you!! To be included in the same company as MMS herself is a high compliment indeed. Your words mean a lot to me Jane! Your name is in the hat!

  2. I totally enjoy your blog – and Bees Knees also. I found you through Jeanne and love your blogs as much as I love hers. I feel like you both are people I would love to know – people I would enjoy going to garage sales with as well as sharing our “quirky” decorating ideas. Please continue to blog as you have been – sharing all that you do inspires me as well as making me feel like someone else “gets” the loveliness of using items differently, the gloriousness of chippiness and the fun of seeing things in a slightly different way.

    1. If you garage saled with us you’d have to get up ridiculously early on Saturday, put up with a lot of swearing (from Jeanne!), have a bladder of steal (I refuse to stop for potty breaks if the sales are hot) and eat a lot of hot dogs and questionable homemade baked goods. But we do have a lot of fun! Your name is in the hat Jan!

  4. Love your furniture and love your time-worn finishes. What you do, so well, contributes to someone’s house becoming a home. The quality and beautiful designs of the furniture bring an important element of stability and history of time to the people who buy them. Home is where we all go to rest and rejuvenate before heading out into the big, old world again. It is important stuff.
I, personally, working alone, feel connected to someone through viewing your blog. I always enjoy seeing what you doing and learning how sales are going. Without a doubt, you are going to get busier and get more followers which will result in more sales and you will continue to grow your business. You are the best painter out there! Who knows what you will add to it or in which direction you will go. It is great to be along for the ride.

P.S. Today, I saw a mid-century modern credenza painted white. It looked fabulous.

    1. Ginene, you always write the most fab comments! I’m glad I can keep you company while you work alone. As for the credenza, I have to admit, I still have a picture in my head of how nice that Lane credenza could have looked painted. But, I also get the idea that some things should be left alone, and that might have been one of them. I’m putting your name in!

  5. I can’t imagine that you have thoughts of being stale! I look so forward to your blog everyday! You see the beauty in items that some would cast away and not give a second thought to. I know that if I lived in MN, we would be great friends. Since I don’t, I will just consider you my online buddy! Keep up the good work!

  6. I enjoy each and every post you put out there. For those of us addicted to junk, it is pure enjoyment. I never comment because I think that bloggers don’t have time to read all the stuff they get so it’s good to hear that you actually like to hear from us!! Reading your blog in my robe with a hot cup of coffee makes me smile!! Keep up the good work!

    1. I read every single comment and enjoy them all! Although I can’t imagine how people who get 100’s of comments can possible keep up with them. But I hardly have that problem! So, thanks for your comments Sheri! Keep ’em coming. I’m putting your name in the hat, good luck!

  13. I love your blog! Please put my name in the hat – my daughter would love the earrings (like your husband, I don’t wear them) and my granddaughter would love the hairpins. Keep up the good work – it’s a breath of fresh air to read and see what you are repurposing. From junk to fabulous in a very short time! And if you happen to have any other little boxes with surprises laying around your place …feel free to place them directly on my desk at any time…

  14. Here’s the thing…there’s too much bad news out there. News programs, papers, they’re filled with bad things that someone has deemed “newsworthy”. I think your little corner of the interwebs is a lovely respite to revel in the beauty of simplicity. Just another painted dresser you say? I say a bit of peace to look forward to. Another vintage clock? A reminder of a simpler time of slower pace and linen and milkglass and ironstone and books made of actual pages instead of screens. Bring it on Linda, we could all use a good dose of milk paint 😉

    1. Now sis, I know you don’t want those earrings! or the hair pins! Now, if I was giving away some camping or hiking gear, you’d be all over it. And you can’t win and just give them to Kris, she’ll have to leave her own comment!

  17. I have to commend Meggan for her insightful comment. I have considered for sometime how uplifting it would be for a station to present the best of mankind’s efforts instead of seeking to expose and destroy one another. For one I am sure that is why blogging has become so popular. We share our humanity, bits of us and it is not only enjoyed as entertainment but sorely needed to soothe our souls. Thanks for the beauty you add to our world.
